Dolores River Canyon
In the spring you can raft or kayak, if you dare.
In the summer you can swim or float on an inner tube down the river find a hole and fish for brown trout.
You can ride, hike, bike or 4WD along the river on a trail called the Snaggletooth. You will have a 17 mile trail to the bend in the river marked by a pyramid mound of earth created over the centuries by flowing water. You may see our local herd of desert bighorn sheep or enjoy views of spectacular canyon walls on either side of the river

Fishing
Dolores River is an exciting fishing spot with brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout. You can read more about fishing the Dolores at http://duranglers.com/dolores-river/
If you like to float your boat, Lake McPhee is nearby with a stocked two story fishing lake created primarily to store water for Colorado, but it also offers great fishing excitement!

Hunt Elk and Mule Deer
The Dolores River Canyon and surrounding area has:
- Access to some of the finest Elk hunting and Mule Deer hunting in the continental U.S.
- The largest Mule Deer Buck on record, 27 points, was taken in this area.
- Hunters bring in 5-6 point Elk Bulls on a regular basis. A few years ago a local boy brought in a 12X12 bull elk monster. Seriously the biggest elk we have ever seen and we have seen some big ones.
Hiking
You can hike and:
- bird watch,
- track wildlife,
- enjoy the views,
- get great high altitude conditioning (for serious athletes - you can only get this kind of conditioning at high altitude),
- enjoy the wildflowers,
- check out the desert big horn herd or
- enjoy the warm Colorado sunshine.
